not gonna lie… this is the first homecoming I went to in my college career. yes, I know- you can boo me now. I have good reasons though- last year I had to work @ the golf course and the first two years I think I was just burned out from having so much homecoming things to do in high school with cheerleading..
I was so thankful for the family I babysit, Mark & Cindy Tirey, because they hooked me & 5 friends up with **aaamazing** seats. *thank you guys*. we were on the 45 yard line, about 15 rows up in padded seating. See, if more seats were like that, I bet we could fill up the whole stadium for every game.
Anyways, so although our team is really no good this year, we actually won against Northwestern and the weather turned out to be beautiful….
me & 2/5 of my roommates..alicia & micki
in case you are thinking that it looks like we are really close to the field, it’s because we were
I didn’t even have my zoom on my camera.
Go Hoosiers!
my future brother-in-law
since it was Homecoming, they had a lot of alumni that came back to perform with the band and the dancers.. and this guy was a baton twirler from back in the day.. he was pretty good!
i love my school.
After a huge traffic jam on 1-465 and having to go to the bathroom for about 2 1/2 hours, I’m back in Bloomington after a great weekend at home. Every time I drive away from Fort Wayne, I realize how truly blessed I am to have such an amazing family- it’s going to be really hard to not be as close to my mom, dad, and little sis after Jeremy and I are married.Or, maybe my mom is right and Jeremy and I will end up closer to home- who knows.. as of right now, absolutely no one except God!
Anyways, so the weekend started with my first stitches. I’ll save you the gross story but basically I had to get 5 stitches and I’ve never had them before…I’ve never even broken a bone before to be honest. But now, my skin is sewn back up and it itches like none other- my best friend Emily is going to pull them out for me in a couple days… I’m sure there will be a blog about that later on. Then it was off to go shop with my mom (who is the best shopper in the world, seriously- Jeremy should feel lucky that I learned how to shop from my mom
)
My lil sis, Carly, had her senior night @ Carroll which is weird to think that she is old enough to be a senior. Sometimes I still think she is 10 years old…where does time go?? She looked beautiful and was recognized for her enthusiasm and dedication to the sport
Our other little runner in the family, my dad, decided to pull out his best marathon time ever and ran a 3:04 marathon in Columbus, Ohio. It was crazy! seriously, he’s good. and aside from being a good runner, he’s just a great dad and has taught me a lot about being diligent, responsible, and disciplined.. We spent Saturday & part of Sunday in Columbus and other than the race, we also we went shopping at this sweet outlet mall called Easton Community Center (or something like that). I didn’t have my camera to take pictures but if you are ever bored, take a day trip out there- it will Definitely be worth your time!
Go Dad!! He’s #1327… and after we saw him a couple times, the three of us girls hit up Starbucks for awhile…
look @ him go….sprinting to the finish line..
seriously, do I not have the cutest parents in the world? Not only are they both under 5′7, but they are just funny and happy
me & my lil sis..
Another fun thing from the weekend- my mom and I went and picked out our WEDDING INVITATIONS!!! ahh! it took over 2 hours lol, they are detailed little suckers..it was fun to do wedding things with her and I appreciate her creativity and advice, I think that’s where I get it from
I’d show them to you, but I think you can wait about 3 more months until we send them…
GREAT weekend..glad to be back in Btown for Homecoming Week but it’s always sad to leave the family in Fort Wayne…thankfully I get to see mom & carly this friday
i’m off to eat lunch and get ready for an interview..wish me luck!!
we’re getting ready to head to Columbus, Ohio for the weekend to cheer my dad on his marathon… for the readers out there, please throw up a prayer for him as he is trying to beat the 3 hour mark, an amazing thing to do for any runner- especially when you are 45
*Go Dad!!*
this is my dad and I when I ran my first half-marathon last September (2007).. notice that I’m trying not to die and he is just smiling..that’s because he is good.
I had my first “big girl” job interview today..
praise to the Lord for encouraging me a few moments before I was called into the interview room:
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled. Do not be afraid.” – John 14:27
it’s hard & scary to find a career in a state that I’ve never lived in, only been to twice, yet which will become my future home. But, I’m not afraid and I refuse to be troubled.
peace to you.
Although I LOVED training for the race last weekend (and running it!), I’m so glad to be able to fill my body with caffeine again (as opposed to only water). This was hard to do after working 20-25 hours/week @ starbucks, especially when I am waking up at 4am to drive to work there. ug.
So today I’m dragging a bit with a long week ahead of me and peer pressured katie into hitting up the drive through with me… my recommendation: Iced Grande Skinny Caramel Latte:
However, if you are in the mood for a hot drink- check out the new Signature Hot Chocolate- it’s aaaahmazing
ok, well obviously I am a loser because I am recommending Starbucks drinks to random readers rather than doing my homework. regardless, enjoy
AND… YAY COLTS!!!!
Today is the 22nd birthday of one of my closest friends, Alicia Christie.
Alicia and I met very briefly our freshman year @ IU because she had met Jeremy during a Spring Break trip they took together and he introduced us. After not really talking to each other much after that, we became reaquainted our junior year when some of our mutual friends started to hang out a lot. After just a few conversations, I realized that I wanted this girl as part of my life and now she is a roommate, future bridesmaid, and forever friend!
Alicia is someone that will make your day twenty times better just by being around her, even if she is not having that great of a day. She loves deeply and cares infinitely for others. I am excited to see what the Lord does through her in the upcoming months and years…
and she is now the big dos-dos.. so without further adue, my bff and roomie…
