One of the greatest loves of my life- my little sister- is off to college.  My parents took her to Muncie on Wednesday, unpacked her room, and drove away to become empty-nesters.  Meanwhile I am in shock because I feel like it was just yesterday that mom and dad left me in my IU dorm… where did the time go?  Time has flown and so many amazing memories have been created in the past 4 years.  I am so excited for Carly to experience the same wonderful time in her life; although it is scary because there are tears, stress, and heartache in college but I know those times will produce some of the most beautiful, loving memories for her :) I just can’t wait to see what she will be doing in 4 years from now…

I love you Carly!!! … Go Cardinals!

for the love of disc golf August 16, 2009

I was so against liking disc golf.  Everyone played it in college which automatically made me not interested in going out to join in.  However when you get married to someone, you tend to pick up their interests and hobbies (although Jeremy still does not like to run or clean..hmph).  Anyways, so I started to go play with my die-hard disc golf playin’ hubby and I have now come to love to play- we hit up different courses in the area a few times a week and have a lot of fun doing so :)   It’s also become an activity that you usually play if you come to visit us..

I wish I could fully explain to you how dedicated Jeremy and his friends are to this game- they all have 10+discs, each disc can only be used for a certain throw and they all have names to them (My pink disc is the Destroyer- name given by Jeremy)

We are looking forward to Michael & Em’s wedding next May because after they are married they will hopefully be our neighbors in Fishers and our weekly disc opponents, right guys? :)

My favorite part about the course- the beautiful lake surrounding it!!

Be careful when you come visit us- you might end up as our next disc opponent :)

In His timing August 11, 2009

We have been searching for a church home since before we were married- so the past 7-8 months.  Let me tell you, there are so many churches in Indy/Hamilton County that everyone should be saved by now. For real.  There were a couple times we thought we had found a church home (see an earlier blog) but after going a few more times we felt God pulling us away from it to go try out another 8-10 more.  A few weeks ago we landed at one in Carmel and although it was really nice, it wasn’t quite “the one.”  As we were driving home, we see this massive building that looks like a college campus and says “Northview Christian Life Church” on the sign.  I immediately turned judgmental and thought “of course, the rich people of Carmel are using their money to build a huge church.”  Jeremy wanted to check it out mainly to see what the inside of the building looked like- I first said that I didn’t want to and then after hearing that it is Al Teater’s childhood church, I thought maybe it couldn’t be that bad because anyone who knows Al knows he is full of love :)   So I checked out the website and immediately had a great feeling about the church.  We prayed all week and were really excited to check it out this past Sunday.  The second I walked in the door I immediately felt a sense of peace, like this is home.  The entire church family was overwhelmingly nice to us, they have so many programs going on in the downtown and suburban areas, the building is awesome, and the list goes on and on.  After months of searching and praying, God has led us to a home.  What an awesome feeling- we are so excited to pray about what to be invovled with.  Their lifegroups are starting up at the end of August so we are starting at the perfect time :)

God answers prayers- it is all in His timing but they are answered.
